This storm was one of the worst that I have actually been a part of. It is very surreal to have so much devastation so close to home. My mother-in-law snapped a few pictures during the storms, so I will post a few here. These are taken in and near our home.
This picture is looking to the north west of our place. This is the first storm that blew through, the one that did most of the damage. We thought the storm was just going to miss us, but it seemed to switch directions from north-east, to straight east.
This shot is directly north. The winds were really picking up, and it wasn’t more than 10-15 minutes after this picture that you would have been able to see the tornado that ripped through to the north of us. The picture doesn’t really do justice to what was going on at the time. We were seeing white pieces of people’s patio fences being ripped off and blown away.
Here is a snapshot of a short video that we took looking out our patio door to the south. We literally couldn’t see anything outside. This is the second storm wave that blew through. It brought incredible winds, massive amounts of rain, and large hail (coming up in the next pictures). This is the point at which we were most scared.
Quite an impressive amount of hail. Looks like it snowed in late May. My in-law’s vehicle there suffered some hail damage. Lots of dents, and a cracked rear view mirror. Even now at 9:30pm the same night, there is still a lot of hail in the yard.
A couple more hail pictures.
Next update will be of the pictures we were able to take of the tornado’s damage near our home.
